Saturday 10 July: Witley to Haslemere; 10 miles

Gibbet Hill: High point (272 metres) on Hindhead Common with heather, Celtic Cross, information board and trig point.

This walk has been substituted for the originally posted one around Brookwood Cemetery, which for logistical reasons has had to be abandoned. It's a slightly longer walk in the Surrey hills, with good views.  The first four miles are bumpy rather than hilly, and then we stop for lunch at the Three Horseshoes in Thursley.  After lunch there is a steady gentle climb for three miles to the top of Gibbet Hill, then the descent to Haslemere.  You can download a map, aerial photograph, and elevation profile here.

Meet either at Witley station at 1009, or on the 0915 Haslemere train from Waterloo, which should leave from platform 14*. If travelling by train, buy an off-peak return ticket to Haslemere, which is the farther station from London. I will be carrying a PFA bulletin for identification.

For more information about this or any other PFA walk, phone me on 07904 286774, or email me at secretary@pfalondon.org
