Saturday 19 July: Four Wiggenhalls; 11 miles
A walk in the very flat Fen country,
passing the four churches of Wiggenhall St Germain, Wiggenhall
St Mary the Virgin, Wiggenhall St Peter (ruined) & Wiggenhall
St Mary Magdalen, then following the River Great Ouse down to
Downham Market, where we will get the train back to London. We'll
stop for a pub lunch half way at Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen.
The walk, including stops for breaks, should take around six and
a half hours, and because of the long train journey we will need
to make a fairly early start. You can download a map here.
Meet either at Watlington station at 1010, or on the 0845 Kings
Lynn train from Kings Cross. If travelling by train, buy a cheap
day return ticket to Watlington, which is the farther station
from London.
