Sat 20 May: Charing to Wye; 7 miles

Brewhouse Lane, Boughton AluphA quite hilly walk in Kent, mostly along the North Downs Way. We will stop after three miles at the Wheel Inn in Westwell; however their kitchen is closed for refurbishment so you will need to bring your own food.  I have emailed the Wheel Inn to ask if, as their kitchen is closed, it will be OK for us to eat our sandwiches in the garden, but so far have received no reply.  However I don't think they will raise any objection.

The walk, including the meal stop, should take around five  hours. You can download a map and elevation profile here.

You can also look at a map and aerial photograph side by side at the brilliant Where's the path? site, though the route is not marked on that.

Meet at Charing station at 1041, or on the 0922 Canterbury West train from platform 5* at Victoria. This train can also be boarded at Bromley South (0939, platform 4).  If travelling by train, buy a cheap day return ticket to Wye, which is the farther station from London.  Returning, it is possible to change at Ashford and travel to St Pancras on a high speed train - this is faster, and more convenient if you live in north London, but quite a bit more expensive.  Check it out on the Railtrack website.

If you are planning to come on this walk, please click on this Doodle poll link to let me know - this will not be taken as a binding commitment, but does help by letting me know roughly how many people to expect (and where to expect them).
